Selective transport of copper (II) from zinc (II), lead (II), cadmium (II), nickel (II), and cobalt (II) ions mixture through bulk liquid membrane using 5-nitro-8-quinolinol as a carrier

Abstract: A B S T R A C TThe transport of Cu 2+ ion through a chloroform (CHCl 3 ) bulk liquid membrane containing 5-nitro-8-quinolinol (NQ) as a selective carrier was studied. The NQ is an efficient carrier for the transport of Cu 2+ from aqueous solutions containing equimolar concentration of other cations such as Cd 2+ , Pb 2+ , Zn 2+ , Ni 2+ , and Co 2+ ions. The parameters that have influence on the transport efficiency such as transport time, type, and concentration of stripping agent in acceptor phase, concentrat… Show more

“…In most cases, the increase in the concentration of carrier enhances the solute transport. [35,36] In this part, the carrier effect in membrane phase was examined using different TBP concentrations in CPME. The impact of TBP and its concentration on the acid transport was plotted in Figure 4.…”

“…The BLM consists of feed, membrane and stripping phases [15]. The feed phase containing the metal ion to be transported, the membrane phase contains the carrier which is responsible for the transport of metal ions, having it positioned between feed and stripping phases and the stripping phase in which metal ions will be released [1]. In this work, simulteneous extraction and recovery of Ni (II) from synthetic wastewater by bulk liquid membrane was conducted with selection a suitable liquid membrane (xylene, and soybean oil), and a suitable mobile carrier (TBP, and D2EHPA).…”
