Selective Sensing of Fe3+ and Al3+ Ions and Detection of 2,4,6‐Trinitrophenol by a Water‐Stable Terbium‐Based Metal–Organic Framework

Abstract: Aw ater-stable luminescent terbium-based metalorganic framework (MOF), {[Tb(L 1 ) 1.5 (H 2 O)]·3H 2 O} n (Tb-MOF), with rod-shaped secondary building units (SBUs) and honeycomb-typet ubular channels has been synthesized and structurally characterizedb ys ingle-crystal X-ray diffraction. The high green emissioni ntensity and the microporous nature of the Tb-MOFindicatethat it can potentially be used as aluminescent sensor.I nt his work, we show that Tb-MOF can selectively senseF e 3 + and Al 3 + ions from mixed… Show more

“…The Stern–Volmer ( S‐V ) equation ( I 0 / I ) = K SV [M] + 1 is used to evaluate the quenching efficiency of Tb‐MOF by the analyte, in which K SV is the quenching constant (M –1 ), [M] is the molar concentration of the analyte, I 0 and I are the fluorescence intensities of the complexes suspension without and with the analyte , . As illustrated in Figure d, the S‐V curve linearly increases below 132 μM for MDZ and then deviates from the linearity at high concentration of MDZ.…”

“…Thus, MOFs demonstrate great potential applications in various fields. Owing to the decades' efforts of researchers, thousands of structures of MOFs have been discovered and applied in various fields, such as separation [31][32][33][34][35][36][37][38], adsorption [20,[39][40][41][42], optics [43][44][45][46][47][48][49][50], catalysis [19,[51][52][53][54][55][56], sensors [57][58][59][60][61][62][63], etc. However, most of these studies are based on MOFs powders.…”

“…These facts impel us to realize LnMOFs ratiometric sensors for Al 3+ by the judicious choice of the organic ligand. Recently, a few works reported different fluorescence response behavior to Al 3+ ions for the emissions of the ligand and Tb 3+ ion [37,38]. In these cases, the Tb 3+ emission decreases gradually, whereas the ligand emission shows a strong enhancement as the addition of Al 3+ ions.…”
