“…The complete reversibility can not been obtained in our case even though longer recovery time is used. Similar phenomena have been observed for most PPy-based NH 3 sensors [13,14,16,17,19,31]. Mechanism of NH 3 sensing irreversibility is not yet clearly established, but there are various explanations such as an irreversible electron transfer from ammonia to the doped PPy matrix [16], function of the dopants on the film morphologies [13], or the detachment of the dopant molecules under pumping [29].…”

“…For low NH 3 concentration (500 ppb to 4.6 ppm), the sensitivity was as high as 1.49% per ppm of ammonia with correlation coefficient R ¼ 0.9308, while in the range from 50 ppm to 450 ppm, the slope decreased to 0.039% per ppm of ammonia (correlation coefficient R ¼ 0.9987). Such behavior could be attributed to a partial saturation of PPy at higher NH 3 concentrations [19]. The detection limit was estimated to be 60 ppb at a signal-to-ratio of 3, which is significantly lower than the recommended threshold limit value of 25 ppm for human exposure.…”

“…This interfering influence has been reduced by using dodecylsulfate ions, which inhibit ion exchange [117]. The sensitivity of Langmuir -Blodgett polypyrrole layer has been found higher (in the range 0.01 -1%) than for polypyrrole obtained by electropolymerization [120].…”

“…[147] Films of conventional polypyrrole are typically grown electrochemically or through a polymer lift-off procedure. [148][149][150][151] However, because polypyrrole nanofibers are more easily processable in water than their bulk counterparts, films of this material can be formed through drop-casting. Polypyrrole nanofibers have been used as a material for the reversible detection of ammonia and hydrogen gas with high sensitivity and quick response times.…”
