“…3. 61,62 Polydopamine coated quartz showed a weaker UV-Vis absorbance peak at l = 290 nm, as well as broad absorption across the 200-800 nm wavelength range, Fig. 3 63 Polydopaminecinnamaldehyde coated quartz exhibited a strong absorbance at l = 288 nm, which can be attributed to either or both of the cinnamaldehyde and dopamine coating constituents.…”

“…The peaks located at 1050 cm −1 and 787 cm −1 correspond to the C-O stretching vibrations and in-plane bending of the C-O bond [ 29 ], respectively. Lastly, a strong N-H stretching vibration [ 34 ] was observed at 669 cm −1 . Consequently, these FTIR spectral data demonstrated the existence of C=O, -NH 2 , -OH, and C-S and C-N functional groups on the surface of N, S-CDs.…”

“…It is apparent from Figure 2 d that the XRD pattern of N, S-CDs displayed a typical wide peak at about 23.6°, which can be interpreted as the (002) planes of the graphitic carbon structure, confirming the amorphous carbon structure of N, S-CDs [ 21 ]. This observation may be attributed to the rich nitrogen, sulfur, oxygen, and other functional groups introduced [ 34 ] by the N, S-CDs sample. The surface functionalization process of N, S-CDs was further studied by XPS spectra.…”

“…Such behavior is reasonable, as free cinnamal in solutions has an intensive absorption band with the maximum at ca. 288 nm [ 41 ] and demonstrates a strong interaction between the adsorbed cinnamal guest molecules and the host luminescent framework. Note that clear DMF solutions of cinnamal with the same concentrations were used for a baseline correction.…”

“…Despite generally low toxicity for human and occurrence in various common consumption goods, cinnamal is known to evoke allergic reactions [ 33 ]; therefore, its efficient detection is relevant for healthcare and other practical issues. Although there are a number of developed analytical methods for its quantitative determination [ 34 , 35 , 36 , 37 , 38 , 39 , 40 ], only one method of cinnamal fluorescent detection has been reported using nitrogen and sulfur codoped carbon dots [ 41 ]. To the best of our knowledge, no MOF-assisted techniques have been reported for cinnamal detection yet.…”
