Selective Abnormal Growth Behavior of Goss Grains in Magnetostrictive Fe-Ga Alloy Sheets

Abstract: Selective abnormal growth behavior of Goss grains was investigated by interrupting secondary recrystallization process in magnetostrictive (Fe 83 Ga 17 ) 99.9 (NbC) 0.1 rolled alloy sheets. The evolution of microstructure and texture was analyzed by electron back-scattered diffraction while ramping the temperature from 1123 to 1353 K. The results indicate that before temperature increasing up to 1203 K, Goss grains had no advantages in size and quantity, and the abnormal grain growth did not occur. Goss grains… Show more

“…It should be noted that the creation of a texture of this type in a bcc alloy is a rather difficult task. In recent years, attempts have been made to actively solve this problem by studying the mechanisms of texture formation in Fe-Ga [53,56] and the selection of deformation and recrystallization parameters [52,53,55,[57][58][59][60][61][62][63][64][65]. In terms of technology, there are two approaches to creating desirable texture in Fe-Ga sheets.…”
