The specific heat from 1.6 to 18 K of a lutetium sample which has been well characterised with respect to impurities is reported. Values for the electronic coefficient ( y = 8.30 0.08 mJmol-' K -' ) and the Debye temperature at 0 K (U, (0) = 185 f 1 K) were obtained. These results are compared to previously reported values.
