Selection ofBacillus subtilisUS191 as a mannanase‐producing probiotic candidate

Abstract: β‐Mannanases are crucial enzymes for the breakdown of mannans. As Mannans are being considered as antinutritional factors in poultry production, the search for mannanase‐producing probiotic bacteria is now attracting considerable attention as a strategy to enhance nutrients bioavailability. Five soil born Bacilli (US134, US150, US176, US180, and US191) were selected for their ability to produce extracellular β‐mannanases that were biochemically characterized. The probiotic properties of these strains were dete… Show more

“…However, the unintended negative effects of feeding higher levels of yeast and yeast bioactives are possible. For example, the yeast cell wall mannans that have been found to be antinutritional ( Blibech et al, 2019 ; Chen et al, 2021 ). Over production of immune proteins and stimulation of lymphoid organs require nutrients that would have otherwise supported growth.…”

“…Probiotics are live microorganisms that exert beneficial effects on the host [36][37][38]. Evidence suggests the use of probiotics as a promise approach for promoting the wound healing process via inducing the immunity system and controlling inflammation.…”
