Lanthanum oxide (La2O3) nanoparticles are widely applied in various fields and have the potential to be made on a fabrication scope. As a consequence, feasibility studies for generating industries for La2O3 production are required, particularly in developing countries. The purpose of this research was to evaluate and investigate the prospect of the production of La2O3 nanoparticles. This study was carried out to determine whether large-scale La2O3 production using solution combustion (SC) and hydrothermal supercritical water conditions (HSWC) is profitable or not. The analysis method was evaluated based on economic evaluation parameters such as gross profit margin, payback period, and cumulative net present value, while also taking technical aspects into account by designing commercial tools. An economic evaluation was made based on estimates of ideal conditions, such as tax increases, changes in raw materials, sales, workers' salaries, and utility costs. The results of the analysis show that the best method, and has great advantages, was the HSWC method. Based on an engineering perspective, this method produces 4.08 tons of La2O3 in 20 years of production. This study is expected to provide information on the production of La2O3 nanoparticles by comparing the solution combustion method and hydrothermal supercritical water conditions on an industrial scale.

PurposeInventory models are quantitative ways of calculating low-cost operating systems. These models can be either deterministic or stochastic. A deterministic model hypothesizes variable quantities like demand and lead time, as certain. However, various types of research have revealed that the value of demand and lead time is still ambiguous and vary unanimously. The main purpose of this research piece is to reduce the uncertainties in such a dynamic environment of Industry 4.0.Design/methodology/approachThe current study tackles the multiperiod single-item inventory lot-size problem with varying demands. The three lot sizing policies – Lot for Lot, Silver–Meal heuristic and Wagner–Whitin algorithm – are reviewed and analyzed. The suggested machine learning (ML)–based technique implies the criteria, when and which of these inventory models (with varying demands and safety stock) are best fit (or suitable) for economical production.FindingsWhen demand surpasses a predicted value, variance in demand comes into the picture. So the current work considers these things and formulates the proper lot size, which can fix this dynamic situation. To deduce sufficient lot size, all three considered stochastic models are explored exclusively, as per respective protocols, and have been analyzed collectively through suitable regression analysis. Further, the ML-based Classification And Regression Tree (CART) algorithm is used strategically to predict which model would be economical (or have the least inventory cost) with continuously varying demand and other inventory attributes.Originality/valueThe ML-based CART algorithm has rarely been seen to provide logical assistance to inventory practitioners in making wise-decision, while selecting inventory control models in dynamic batch-type production systems.

Supply conditions after economics and engineering considerations is important for consideration because machinery and equipment procurement is a tripod of which supply conditions is one. This study identified the attributes of supply conditions, different ways of combining the attributes using simple permutation and combination theories and determined the pay-off as well as the opportunity lost to every scenario used by method of Expected Decision Value (EDV). The attributes were identified as: Due Date of the Supply (A); Technical Capability of Vendor (B); After Sales Services (C); and Vendor’s Experience (D). Total number of scenarios were 15 of four (4) options. The pay-off with the opportunity lost to each selected option are: Option1 (25% against 75%); Option2 (50% against 50%); Option3 (75% against 25%); and Option4, 100% where the four (4) strategic decisions were all considered for selecting the supplier turns out to be optimum and in favour of purchaser. Further research in the area of development of a Surrogate Model for Industrial Machinery Supplier Selection Post Economics and Engineering Considerations is recommended.
