Background Among standardized developmental screening tools, the Denver II is commonly used by Indonesian pediatricians, but the Parent's Evaluation of Developmental Status (PEDS) test has gained in popularity. The Denver II test is filled by physicians, while the PEDS test is meant to be filled by parents. From a practical standpoint, however, parents often require assistance from doctors when filling out the PEDS forms. Hence, the advantage of the PEDS test over the Denver II test is not fully realized. Objective To compare the agreement between Denver II and PEDS tests, with and without parental use of a table of categorical responses taken from the PEDS manual. Methods We conducted a cross-sectional study in children aged 6 months to 5 years in Bandung from November 2015 to March 2016. Subjects were divided into two groups using block randomization. AbstrakPenyimpangan perkembangan masih merupakan masalah bagi anak di Indonesia. Untuk meminimalkan penyimpangan perkembangan yang dicurigai maka intervensi perkembangan secara dini dapat dilakukan sebagai upaya untuk merangsang berbagai aspek perkembangan. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui manfaat intervensi perkembangan secara dini terhadap anak usia 6-12 bulan yang mengalami kecurigaan penyimpangan perkembangan. Penelitian intervensi tes pra dan pasca dilakukan selama bulan Januari-Maret 2011. Subjek adalah anak sehat usia 6-12 bulan di kelurahan Cibangkong dan Kebongedang Kiaracondong, Bandung. Penapisan perkembangan anak dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner praskrining perkembangan (KPSP) dengan interpretasi hasil sesuai, meragukan, dan penyimpangan. Apabila didapatkan hasil yang meragukan maka orangtua diajarkan melakukan intervensi setiap hari di rumah selama 2 minggu dengan pemantauan setiap 2 hari dengan menggunakan kartu harian. Apabila masih terdapat hasil meragukan pada pascaintervensi, maka dilakukan intervensi ulang selama 2 minggu dengan pengawasan seperti sebelumnya. Analisis perbedaan pra dan pascaintervensi dini dilakukan dengan Tes Cochran. Dari 242 anak sehat yang diperiksa terdapat 208 (86,0%) anak dengan perkembangan sesuai, 33 (13,6%) anak perkembangan meragukan, dan 1 (0,4%) anak mengalami penyimpangan perkembangan. Drop out terjadi pada 1 dari 33 anak karena dirawat di rumah sakit. Setelah intervensi kecurigaan penyimpangan perkembangan turun menjadi 12/32 setelah 2 minggu, dan 4/32 pada akhir intervensi (p<0,001). Simpulan: terdapat manfaat intervensi dini anak usia 6-12 bulan yang mengalami kecurigaan penyimpangan perkembangan. Early intervention is an effort to minimize this delay. The aim of this study was to determine the advantages of early intervention in children 6-12 months old who were suspected as experiencing developmental delay. An intervention study with pre and post design was performed on physically healthy children aged 6-12 months in Cibangkong and Kebongedang, Kiaracondong Bandung between January and March 2011. Children developmental screening was performed using kuesioner praskrining perkembangan (KPSP), or development pre-screening questionnaire, to show appropriate, suspected, or delayed interpretation. When the result of the questionnaire was not really clear for making conclusion, parents were tought to do the intervention at home every day for two weeks with a monitoring performed every 2 days using the daily card. Standardization of a Developmental Milestone Scale Using Data From Children in Israel

IMPORTANCERoutine developmental screening tests for children are used worldwide for early detection of developmental delays. However, assessment of developmental milestone norms lacks strong normative data, and there are inconsistencies among different screening tools. OBJECTIVE To establish milestone norms and build an updated developmental scale. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS This is a cross-sectional, population-based study conducted between 2014 and 2020. Developmental assessments were conducted by trained public health nurses, documented in national maternal child health clinics, known as Tipat Halav, which serve all children in Israel. Participants included all children born between January 2014 andSeptember 2020, who were followed at the maternal child health clinics from birth to age 6 years.Exclusion criteria were preterm birth, missing gestational age, low birth weight (<2.5 kg), abnormal weight measurement (<3% according to standardized child growth charts), abnormal head circumference measurement (<3% or >97% according to standardized child growth charts), and visits without developmental data or without the child's age. Data analysis was performed from September 2020 to June 2021. EXPOSURESIn total, 59 milestones in 4 developmental domains were evaluated, and the achievement rate per child's age was calculated for each milestone. MAIN OUTCOMES AND MEASURESA contemporary developmental scale, the Tipat Halav Israel Screening (THIS) Developmental Scale, was built, presenting the 75%, 90%, and 95% achievement rates for each milestone. The THIS scale was compared with other commonly used screening tests, including the Denver Developmental Screening Test II (Denver II), the Alberta Infant Motor Scale (AIMS), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Developmental Assessment. RESULTS A total of 839 574 children were followed in the maternal child health clinics between January 2014 and September 2020 in Israel, and 195 616 children were excluded. A total of 3 774 517 developmental assessments were performed for the remaining 643 958 children aged 0 to 6 years (319 562 female children [49.6%]), resulting in the establishment of new developmental norms. In terms of the comparable milestones, THIS milestones had a match of 18 of 27 (67%) with the Denver II, 7 of 7 (100%) with AIMS, and 10 of 19 (53%) with the CDC Developmental Assessment. The remaining unmatched milestones were achieved earlier in the THIS scale compared with other screening tools.
