Selecting a Suitable Remote Phosphor Configuration for Improving Color Quality of White Led

Abstract: When compared with two conformal phosphor and in-cup phosphor structures, the remote phosphor structure has higher luminescent performance. However, it is difficult to control the color quality of the remote phosphor structure, so it has become a research target in recent years. So far, there are two remote phosphor structures used to improve color quality including dual-layer phosphor configuration and triple-layer phosphor configuration. This study suggests using those two configurations to make mult… Show more

“…Blue LED chips made of GaN-based materials and some sort of phosphor, either directly applied to the chips themselves or kept apart from the them (remote phosphor arrangement) [ 39 , 40 ], are used in the majority of white LEDs currently on the market. The excitation source and phosphors employed in the production of these WLEDs determine the spectral characteristics of the emitted light.…”

“…Most white LEDs on the market use blue LED chips manufactured from GaN-based materials and a phosphor coating placed either directly on the chips or separated from the chip (remote phosphor configuration) [15]. A phosphor is defined as a luminescent material that absorbs and reemits energy over time, which is associated with the lifetime of the excited electron.…”

“…Most white LEDs on the market use blue LED chips made from GaN-based materials and some type of phosphor coating, placed either directly on the chips or separated from the chip (remote phosphor configuration) [ 24 ]. These WLED sources emit light with characteristic spectral distributions, which depend on the nature of the excitation source and the phosphors used.…”
