Suninzavy. The rate of the reaction lietween methyl tosylate and lithium bromide has been measured in various aprotic solvents. Thcre is no simple correlation between rate and dielectric constant in aprotic solvents with low dielectric constant. I n propylene cai-bonate the reaction is much slower than would be predicted on the basis of solvent activity coefficients. Solvation of substrate and transition state seems to play a role in detcrmining the reaction rate in this solvent. Gewkse bimolekubare nucleophile Substitutionen laufen in dipolar aprotischen Losungsmitteln viel rascher als in protischen ab [l]. So wird z.E:. die Reaktion von Lithiunibromid mit Methyljodid beim Ubergang von Methanol zu Dimethylformamid als Solvens urn einen Faktor von 5,8 x lo4 beschleunigt [ 2 ] . Ferner andert sich die Nucleopliilie der Halogenid-Ionen von J-> Br-> C1-in protischen zu C1-> Br-> Jin aprotischen Losungsmitteln. Nimmt nian an, dass die Nucleophilie der unsolvatisierten Halogenid-Ionen in der Keilienfolge C1-> Rr-> J-abnimnit, so konnen die beobachteten Phanonienc folgenderniassen in befriedigender Weise erklart werden : Die Halogenid-Ionen werden durch protische Losungsmittel durch Bildung von Wasserstoffbriicken umgekehrt zu ihrer Grosse stabilisiert, so dass sich ilire relative Reaktivitat unikehrt, wahrend die viel schwaichere Solvatation durch aprotische Losungsmittel zu einer Beschleunigung der Reaktionsgescliu.indigkeit fuhrt, oline dass sich die Reaktivitatssequenz andert [3]. Es ist scliwieriger, die inanclimal betraclitlichen Reaktivitatsunterschiede innerlialb der Gruppe der aprotischen Losungsmittel zu erklaren. So reagiert z.B. n-Butylbromid mit Natriumazid in Hexamethylpliospliortriarriid ca. 10 OOOmal schneller als 1) -~ -~ \'orliiufige Mitteilung; eine ausfiihrliche Publikation sol1 in Helv. erscheinen.
