Selected di- and tetranucleotide microsatellites from chromosomes 7, 12, 14, and Y in various Eurasian populations

Abstract: Microsatellite polymorphisms of nine Eurasian populations (> 1200 chromosomes) were analyzed for the following loci: i) intronic (gt)n stretches of three T cell receptor (TCR) B loci on chromosome 7 (TCRBV6S1, TCRBV6S3, TCRBV6S7); ii) an intergenic (gt)n repeat in the region between the TCRDV3 and TCRAJ61 elements on chromosome 14; iii) two tetranucleotide simple repeats (D12S66, D12S67), not linked to known genes on chromosome 12; iv) a Y-chromosomal (gata)n polymorphism (DYS19). In general, allele frequencie… Show more

“…The most important feature is the very high incidence of the YCAII a5-b1 haplotype (69.8%). This frequency is one of the highest observed in Europe, 14,25,39,41,43,44 and is close to the value (78%) displayed by the Basques. 45,46 .…”

“…Among Caucasians in both Germany and Brazil (Gomolka et al, 1994;Santos et al, 1993), 190bp allele was most frequently observed. While in Middle East and South Asia, the predominant alleles were 194 bp in Pakistani, Hindu, Thais and 198 bp in Kampuchea (Gomolka et al, 1994).…”

In another survey of alleles at the DYS19 locus, higher frequency of longer alleles was found in Japanese populations as compared to that of Western European populations (Hammer and Horai, 1995).…”
