Seizure Resistance of Aluminum-Lead-Silicon Connecting Rod Bearings and Nodular Cast Iron Shafts

Abstract: Seizure failure of aluminum-lead-silicon crankshaft bearings andfects o f hard particles in aluminum based bearing alloys by r~odular cast iron shafts has been studied experimentally. Bearings introducing different hard particles into 10% tin-aluminum and shafts of diferent materials with diferent surface texture have alloys. Their results showed that hard particles in the alloy b e a tested and compared. Results show that seizure can occur on can polish and modify the shaft surface, and remove alumimime, loca… Show more

“…In these bearing materials, wear and temperature in the contact area are responsible for the onset of seizure. 12 The surface roughness of the shaft, chemical composition, bearing materials and their microstructures, and bearing surface roughness textures, whether it is bored or broached bearings, all affect the seizure processes. Failure due to local iron–iron contact caused by iron transfer can occur, leading to iron transfer and local adhesion.…”
