Seismic Waves Could Decrease the Permeability of the Shallow Crust

Abstract: Several experiments and field observations have demonstrated seismic waves‐induced permeability increases. However, a few experiments have revealed significant decreases in the permeability of fractured sandstone after shaking produced by dynamic stresses.
