Seismic response of R/C structures subjected to simulated ground motions compatible with design spectrum

Abstract: SUMMARYIn seismic response analysis of building structures, the input ground motions have considerable effect on the nonlinear seismic response characteristics of structures. The characteristics of soil and the locality of the site where those ground motions were recorded affect the contents of ground motion time histories. This study describes a generation of synthetic ground motion time histories compatible with seismic design spectrum, and also evaluates the seismic response results of multi‐story reinforce… Show more

“…37 In this study, ε 1 was set to 15% to increase the effectiveness of the artificial seismic wave, while ε 2 was set to 5% based on a previous study on artificial seismic waves. 38 Based on the proposed method, artificial seismic waves were created using EQmaker, an EQ generation software program. 39 In this instance, nine artificial seismic waves with different duration ranges were created.…”

“…Equation determines the effectiveness of an artificial seismic wave by calculating the root mean square deviation between the peak acceleration of an artificial seismic wave for Ti and the acceleration of the design response spectrum. Jun () set the value of ε in the equation as 0.05, with a damping ratio of 5%. Consequently, if an artificially created seismic wave satisfies Equations and , it is utilized as effective aftershock data.…”
