Seeing change in urban informal settlements with social network analysis

Abstract: This paper examines the changes to social networks of people living in seven informal settlements in Raipur, India, who, in line with the “Indian Alliance” model of community organizing, worked with NGO partners to form local associations in their settlements. These associations were meant to help the participants and their fellow settlement residents to access more secure housing through the Rajiv Awas Yojana (RAY) policy. This paper presents findings from a quantitative social network analysis, demonstrating… Show more

“…Kasper held that the research on neural network theory can be divided into two modes at present: one is the learning neural network mode, and the other is the self-organization mode. In the process of the learning neural network mode, the calculation process is generally separated from the learning process, and the calculation process can be regarded as an autonomous dynamic process [8]. Strohmeier found that the process of research learning can be thought of as a systematic adjustment of the link strength of a neural network using an additional.…”

“…Resource possession and information flows are critical network functions performed by agents, and Kim et al (2018) applies a social network analysis to explore patterns generated through the aggregated interactions of network agents during responses, which illustrates the critical role of agents in resource and information allocation. Chen et al (2018) network analysis can be used to quantitatively present the structure of a social network, to analyse how the actions of network agents are affected by a network and to reveal network distributions and hierarchical structures with visual graphics (Kasper 2021). However, existing research on power systems evolution focuses on the analysis of relationships and influencing agents among agents manifesting during evolution and does not discuss the optimal coordination of evolutionary agents in depth.…”
