Seed yield, seed quality, profitability, and risk analysis among double crop soybean maturity groups and seeding rates

Abstract: Core ideas (3-5 impact statements, 85 char max for each)  Maturity group effected seed yield, yield components and protein concentration  Seeding rate effected seed yield, seeds m-2 , V2 and R8 plant populations  Greatest yield of each maturity group was attained with the highest seeding rate  The longest adapted rMG and higher seeding rates had the greatest net benefits

“…Different seeding rates can impact disease development, yield, and net return of a crop [ 40 , 41 , 42 , 57 , 58 , 59 , 60 , 61 ]. However, there is limited published data on the effects of different seeding rates on SDS development.…”

“…The comparative net economic return (CNER) of each planting date and seeding rate combination was used to evaluate economic gain or loss, compared with a base treatment similar to Rod et al. (2021). In this study, the base treatment was the normal planting date window (May 11 to 31) and a seeding rate of 370,600 seeds ha −1 .…”

“…Partial budget analyses consistent with Kay et al ( 2020) and Rod et al (2021) were used to determine the net economic return of each of the six management treatments for each planting timing in 2018 and 2019. Significant differences among the partial budgets were determined using the "t-test: two-sample assuming unequal variances" function in Excel 2013 (Microsoft).…”
