“…1a). The Neill Klinter Group is time-equivalent and analogous to the prolific reservoir rocks on the conjugate Halten Terrace offshore Norway (Martinius et al 2001;Ichaso & Dalrymple 2014), and was deposited in a minor sub-basin in the narrow, tide-dominated seaway that occupied the rifted continental crust between present-day Norway and Greenland (Gjelberg et al 1987;Fig. 1a).…”

“…Although loading of the sandstone into the underlying mudstone is present it is not common indicating that the mud had undergone an initial consolidation before the subsequent sand was introduced to the depositional area. The degree of bioturbation varies in the lithofacies and Martinius et al (2001) found that the trace-fossile suite was indicative of a sub-tidal species-rich equilibrium (mixed shallow to mid-tier deposit-feeding and suspension feeding). However, in the further time-series analysis only the least bioturbated intervals of the lithofacies were used since bioturbation makes the measurement of the sandstone and mudstone laminaset thickness unreliable.…”

“…However, in the further time-series analysis only the least bioturbated intervals of the lithofacies were used since bioturbation makes the measurement of the sandstone and mudstone laminaset thickness unreliable. Martinius et al (2001) interpreted this lithofacies to have been deposited in a quiet-water, mud-rich deltafront environment with slow deposition from suspension and sand deposition by traction currents. Tidal influence and possible seasonal variability were assumed to be the main influence on the sedimentation pattern.…”
