Sedation in pediatric intensive care unit and its impact on outcomes of ventilated children: a prospective observational study

Abstract: Background Sedation is an integral part in the management of critical patients in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). Optimum sedation is when the child is asleep but easily arousable. The patient should be able to breathe synergistically with the ventilator and should tolerate or be compliant with other therapeutic procedures.
