Security framework for industrial collaborative robotic cyber-physical systems

Abstract: The paper introduces a security framework for the application of human-robot collaboration in a futuristic industrial cyber-physical system (CPS) context of industry 4.0. The basic elements and functional requirements of a secure collaborative robotic cyber-physical system are explained and then the cyber-attack modes are discussed in the context of collaborative CPS whereas a defense mechanism strategy is proposed for such a complex system. The cyber-attacks are categorized according to the extent on controll… Show more

“…Based on the classification of C-ITS components, transferred data and its application possibilities it can be seen that C-ITS can provide a common framework to harmonize the operation of different system components to support a safer, a more secured (Khalid et al, 2018), a more efficient and a more reliable transport service for road users. “…Despite the fact that some regulations, technical specifications, technical reports and researchers are trying to address the potential dangers of this type of robotics there are still many critical and dangerous aspects to consider. Security is closely associated with safety as both of these characteristics have to be addressed synchronously (Khalid et al 2018).…”

“…The problem could be treated as a flow shop scheduling problem. Khalid et al (2018) explored in their work the risk of cyber-attacks in cyber physical collaborative operations. The paper introduced a security framework for the application of human-robot collaboration in a futuristic industrial cyber-physical system (CPS) context of industry 4.0.…”
