Nowadays, wireless body area networks (WBANs) systems have adopted cloud computing (CC) technology to overcome limitations such as power, storage, scalability, management, and computing. This amalgamation of WBANs systems and CC technology, as sensor-cloud infrastructure (S-CI), is aiding the healthcare domain through real-time monitoring of patients and the early diagnosis of diseases. Hence, the distributed environment of S-CI presents new threats to patient data privacy and security. In this paper, we review the techniques for patient data privacy and security in S-CI. Existing techniques are classified as multibiometric key generation, pairwise key establishment, hash function, attribute-based encryption, chaotic maps, hybrid encryption, Number Theory Research Unit, Tri-Mode Algorithm, Dynamic Probability Packet Marking, and Priority-Based Data Forwarding techniques, according to their application areas. Their pros and cons are presented in chronological order. We also provide our six-step generic framework for patient physiological parameters (PPPs) privacy and security in S-CI: (1) selecting the preliminaries; (2) selecting the system entities; (3) selecting the technique; (4) accessing PPPs; (5) analysing the security; and (6) estimating performance. Meanwhile, we identify and discuss PPPs utilized as datasets and provide the performance evolution of this research area. Finally, we conclude with the open challenges and future directions for this flourishing research area.

Today’s Wireless Body Area Networks technology augmented the wireless sensors communication more smart in the e-health line. With this sensors deployment prominent body parameters simply monitored remotely and the corresponding data is stored and transmitted the same for treatment purpose to the e-healthcare destination. Primarily Wireless Body Area Networks health care service is deliberately used in telemedicine, mobile health, elderly care, to monitor the chronic diseases and in emergency cases- the medical rehabilitations provided immediately without delay to the respective patient by the medical professional through internet service. As the demand of Wireless Body Area Networks e-health service increases, its ability is further enhanced once it is provided with more security and privacy to the enabled user’s data with more integrity, confidentiality, availability features. Wireless Body Area Networks makes the people to improve their quality of life provided with affordable cost and flexibility in usage having minimum operation of events. Researcher’s shows an interest over the past years in e-health care services adaptability and concerns more on real-world complications. This survey paper mainly focuses on the conceptual structure of Wireless Body Area Networks communication, security and privacy issues, and allocated frequency bands.

Human Sensor Network (HSN) is an emerging technology that allows to remotely monitor, gather and maintain the information of patient’s health parameters using bio-sensors. The bio-sensors are either implantable or wearable or may be stitched on the clothes of a patient.The collected health information is processed and maintained in a database server. The information from the database can be accessed by the users such as doctors, health servants, government, insurance agencies and by the patient or his relatives. Since, the information collected is related to thepatient’s private health record, it is required to be safely stored and protected from an unauthorized access. Thus, Security and Privacy are the key issues in HSNs.In this paper, the infrastructure-based and adhoc-based communication architecture of HSN and challenges and measures of security and privacy issues have been reviewed.
