Security and performance enhancement of AODV routing protocol

Abstract: International audienceA mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) is a decentralized, self-organizing, infrastructure-less network andadaptive gathering of independent mobile nodes. Because of the unique characteristics of MANET, themajor issues to develop a routing protocol in MANET are the security aspect and the network performance. In this paper, we propose a new secure protocol called Trust Ad Hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV)using trust mechanism. Communication packets are only sent to the trusted neighbor nodes.… Show more

“…The performance of RTBD is compared with an existing technique called self-centered friendship (SCF) tree. Simaremare et al [22] proposed a trust-based mechanism for AODV protocol which calculates trust by accumulating global trust and local trust. Global trust is calculated by comparing total routing packets received and forwarded, while local trust is calculated by comparing total routing packets received and forwarded by a neighbor node from a specific node.…”

“…MANET is widely used in several applications like civilian, industrial, and military [4]. However, there are many issues associated with MANET and need to be investigated, such as routing, energy consumption, overhead, scalability, and security [5].…”

“…The main functions of MANETs protocols are to establish, maintain, and perform route repair in the event of broken links. Numerous routing protocols have been developed to cater the needs of wireless networks, or MANETs [1][2][3]. Such protocols can generally be categorized into two groups: reactive and proactive protocols.…”
