Internet of Things (IoT) accelerating growth exposes many unsecured issues related to the design and the usage of network integrated devices. This paper presents a fuzzy evaluation method, based on both IOT hardware/software developers’ and users’ knowledge, creating an novel model to aid correctness actions over security procedures, in order to increase the IOT safeness usage. This method combines both the developer’s and user’s perspectives, creating an integrated adaptive evaluation attached to the Information Technology security standards and best practices guidelines. The proposed evaluation method is divided by categories, each one composed of security control clauses and their corresponding action recommendation. The user perspective of such evaluation method was applied into a service company, and the developer perspective was defined by an IoT device manufacturer. The obtained results have shown that the evaluation method enhances both the manufacturer security awareness and the IOT users experience in the improvement of security IoT issues.

Abstract:The introduction of mobile devices has changed our daily lives. They enable users to obtain information even in a nomadic environment and provide information without limitations. A decade after the introduction of this technology, we are now facing the next innovation that will change our daily lives. With the introduction of the Internet of Things (IoT), our communication ability will not be restricted to only mobile devices. Rather, it will expand to all things with which we coexist. Many studies have discussed IoT-related services and platforms. However, there are only limited discussions about the IoT network. In this paper, we will thoroughly analyze the technical details about the IoT network. Based on our survey of papers, we will provide insight about the future IoT network and the crucial components that will enable it.

The introduction of the internet in embedded devices led to a new era of technology-the Internet of Things (IoT) era. The IoT technology-enabled device market is growing faster by the day, due to its complete acceptance in diverse areas such as domicile systems, the automobile industry, and beyond. The introduction of internet connectivity in objects that are frequently used in daily life raises the question of security-how secure is the information and the infrastructure handled by these devices when they are connected to the internet? Security enhancements through standard cryptographic techniques are not suitable due to the power and performance constraints of IoT devices. The introduction of virtualization technology into IoT devices is a recent development, meant for fulfilling security and performance needs. However, virtualization augments the vulnerability present in IoT devices, due to the addition of one more software layer-namely, the hypervisor, which enables the sharing of resources among different users. This article proposes the adaptation of ASMI (Architectural Support for Memory Isolation-a general architecture available in the literature for the improvement of the performance and security of virtualization technology) on the popular MIPS (Microprocessor without Interlocked Pipeline Stages) embedded virtualization platform, which could be adopted in embedded virtualization architectures for IoT devices. The article illustrates the performance enhancement achieved by the proposed architecture with the existing architectures.
