Security analysis of interconnected AC/DC systems

Abstract: This paper examines dynamic behavior in system models that reflect reasonably detailed (third order) HVDC dynamics along with ac system models that include reactive flows, and frequency and voltage dependent load models. A vector Lyapunov function approach is employed to define a system wide energy function that can be used for general security analysis. The paper describes the derivation of individual component Lyapunov functions for simplified models of HVDC links connected to Tnfinitely strong" ac systems, … Show more

“…In [23], another PTDF-based model of an MTdc grid is proposed so that that model can be added to existing dc-based PCM model of conventional ac grids. Similarly, the work in [24] proposes a PTDF-based formulation for an MTdc grid to minimize line violations following an converter outage. However, in both works, the losses of MTdc converter stations and dc lines are not included.…”

“…However, due to the large-scale power grid and too many optimization factors, this kind of method cannot be applied in real-time control because of the complicated calculation process. Therefore, a more direct calculation method is proposed for real-time control in [20]. In this paper, active power sensitivity is used to calculate the redistribution of DC unbalanced power after DC fault.…”
