The deployment of 5G infrastructure is one of the main vectors for new application scenarios since it enables enhanced data bandwidth, low latency, and comprehensive signal coverage. As a result, this communication system supports various vertical applications such as the Industrial Internet of Things, smart health, smart cities, smart grids, and transportation systems. However, these applications bring new challenges to 5G networks due to specific requirements for such scenarios. Furthermore, as software-based technologies, including network slicing, software-defined networks, network function virtualization, and multi-access edge computing are a fundamental part of the 5G architecture, the network can expose these applications to new security and privacy concerns. This study summarizes the existing literature on 5G vertical applications security. We highlight vulnerabilities, threats, attacks, and solutions for 5G vertical applications. We conducted a Systematic Literature Mapping (SLM) to discuss security and privacy challenges regarding the 5G vertical applications. The SLM answered the following research question: what is the state-of-the-art regarding security in 5G networks and vertical applications? We reviewed 389 papers from 2,349 produced by searching with a curated search query and discussed vulnerabilities, threats, attacks, and solutions for 5G vertical applications. Smart cities, Industry 4.0, smart transportation, public services, smart grids, and smart health are vertical applications with relevant security concerns. We observed the need for more research since the 5G and vertical applications continuously evolve. This review also uncovers research gaps and future research directions.

The safety hazards of the monitoring platform must be solved to ensure the safety of health monitoring user terminals (HMUTs). To accurately measure the safety level of the safety management system, it is necessary to carry out effective trusted computing. However, the current trusted computing often ignores the subjectivity and personalization of trust, failing to consider the influence of privacy leak on trust. To solve these problems, this paper explores the safety management solution for HMUTs based on trusted computing. Specifically, the authors established a multidimensional trusted computing model for HMUTs, detailed the computing method for composite trust based on single-dimensional trust, and presented a trust management scheme for HMUTs. Experimental results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of our model. Our research keeps up with the latest development trend of trusted computing and lives up to the trust and efficiency requirements of the collaborative processing mechanism for HMUT safety management.

Ubiquitous in-home health monitoring systems have become popular in recent years due to the rise of digital health technologies and the growing demand for remote health monitoring. These systems enable individuals to increase their independence by allowing them to monitor their health from the home and by allowing more control over their well-being. In this study, we perform a comprehensive survey on this topic by reviewing a large number of literature in the area. We investigate these systems from various aspects, namely sensing technologies, communication technologies, intelligent and computing systems, and application areas. Specifically, we provide an overview of in-home health monitoring systems and identify their main components. We then present each component and discuss its role within in-home health monitoring systems. In addition, we provide an overview of the practical use of ubiquitous technologies in the home for health monitoring. Finally, we identify the main challenges and limitations based on the existing literature and provide eight recommendations for potential future research directions toward the development of in-home health monitoring systems. We conclude that despite extensive research on various components needed for the development of effective in-home health monitoring systems, the development of effective in-home health monitoring systems still requires further investigation.
