The Internet of Things (IoT) refers to the network of devices which contain electronics, sensors or software that enables them to connect at anytimeand anywhere through a cyber-physical system. Before the establishment of such a system, it should be considered to what extent the users are ready to adopt and use it in their daily routines. Therefore, this paper explores users' attitudestowardsusing IoT technologies to receive healthcare services. This is in contrast to most previous research, which has studied the technical requirements or devices of the IoT that are required in healthcare services, or ways in which connectivity and performance can be improved using the IoT. Based on known models of technology acceptance, an integrated framework was developed to investigate the impact of security and privacy concerns, and familiarity with the technology, on users' trust in the IoT, and then to measure the effect of that trust on Omani users' attitudes regarding use ofIoT technologies to receive healthcare services. This framework enabled the measurement of risk perception as a mediator between user trust and their attitudes towards using the IoT. Data were collected from 387 respondents and were analysed using SPSS 25 and AMOS 25 statistics software. Exploratory and confirmatory analysis and structural equation modelling were applied. The findings showed that levels of security, privacy and familiarity affected trustin the IoT. Furthermore, these levels of trust in the IoT were found to affect both users' perceptions of risk in, and their attitude towards, using the IoT. The users' risk perception partially mediated the relations between users' trustand their attitude regarding use of the IoT. The framework was supported and interpreted by 40 per cent of the variance in the attitude towards usingthe IoT in healthcare, while the mediator showed 47 per cent of the variance in the attitude towards using the IoT inhealthcare.

Securing Internet of Things (IoT) devices and protecting their applications from privacy leaks is a challenge, due to their weak (computational and storage) capabilities, and their proximity with sensitive data. Considering the resourceconstrains of such devices, their long lifetime, and the intermittent connections, classical security approaches are often too difficult or impractical to apply. Moving Target Defense is an established technique whose goal is to lower the attack surface to malicious users by constantly modifying device footprint. Changing the address to an IoT device without privacy leaks is, however, a nontrivial task. In this paper, we propose a novel method to perform a network-wide (IP and MAC) address shuffling procedure, called Address Shuffling Algorithm with HMAC (AShA), which is simple to implement, and whose network overhead is minimal. To demonstrate its effectiveness, we analyze our approach via theoretical analysis and simulations. Our analysis shows how AShA parameters can be adapted to various network sizes while our simulations results show how AShA can be used to successfully perform a global collision-free address renewal on networks of more than 2000 nodes using 16-bit addresses.

In the era of smart devices and connected neighborhoods, the ubiquitous monitoring and care of patients are possible with the Internet of Medical Things (IoMT). Smart healthcare devices may serve their purpose well when they are able to share patient's data with each other. However, data formats vary widely across vendors, rendering these devices not interoperable. Recent solutions mostly rely on cloud services where a source device uploads the data, and the sink devices download it conforming to their own native formats. However, the quality of service is expected to deteriorate in a cloud processing regime with inherent network delays and traffic congestion, and the real-time data acquisition and manipulation is, therefore, not possible. This article presents MeDIC, a framework of Medical Data Interoperability through Collaboration of healthcare devices. MeDIC improves over a cloud-based IoMT by utilizing translation resources at the network edge, with its probing and translating agents. The probing agents maintain a capability list of MeDIC devices within a local network and enable one MeDIC device to request data conversion from another device when the former is not capable of this conversion by itself. The translating agent of the later then converts the data into the required format and returns it to the former. These novel agents allow IoMT devices to share their redundant computing resources for data translations in order to minimize cloud accesses. Legacy devices are supported through MeDIC-enabled, fog resource managers. We evaluate MeDIC in four use cases with rigorous simulations, which prove that this collaborative framework not only reduces the uplink traffic but also improves the response time, which is critical in real-time medical applications.
