Secure and Optimized Authentication Scheme in Proxy Mobile IPv6 (SOAS-PMIPv6) to reduce Handover Latency

Abstract: Abstract-Advancement in wireless technologies allows mobile devices to access Internet from anywhere at any time. Each network is identified by unique IP address. Mobile IP allows a mobile node to change its network without changing IP address. Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) has suggested several mobility management protocols such MIPv6, HMIPv6, PMIPv6 etc. for perpetual mobility. MIPv6 is a Host-Based Mobility Management (HBMM) protocol and provides global mobility solution to the mobile node. MIPv6 su… Show more

“…As a result, the vehicle considers the PMIPv6 domain to be its home network. Figure 3 shows the basic PMIPv6 [12] architecture which encompasses two functional units namely, the mobile access gateway (MAG) [9,13] and an anchor point, known as a local mobility anchor (LMA) [9,13].…”

“…A meant for a vehicle passes via the LMA, which serves as an anchor point in topolo responsible for maintaining the routing and vehicle accessibility within the PMI main. LMA additionally maintains the binding state of each registered vehicle via cache entry (BCE) [13,14]. The BCE includes the vehicle's identification, its HNP, registration flag, and also the tunnel's established interface identification.…”

“…Many ticket-based schemes have been devised in order to reduce authentication latency in the handover process [9,10]. In [11], the number of signaling messages involved in the authentication process has been reduced to minimize the authentication cost. However, none of the above-mentioned approaches have exploited the resources at the Edge and mobility patterns to reduce handover authentication latency.…”
