Abstract:O artigo aborda três diferentes perspectivas historiográficas sobre o Império romano helenizado sob o domínio dos Antoninos. A primeira é conduzida pelo historiador Edward Gibbon, para quem os imperadores empreenderam um governo justo e moderado.
