Sectoral sierpinski gasket fractal antenna for wireless LAN applications

Abstract: A sectoral Sierpinski Gasket fractal (SSGF) antenna is proposed for dualband operation with wide-bandwidth covering GPS, DCS-1800, PCS-1800, UMTS, IMT-2000, Wireless broadband Internet Services (WiBro), Bluetooth, and WLAN bands. The SSGF antenna consists of volume 65.5 Â 27 Â 1.6 mm 3 . To analyze its performance, measurements are carried out. The proposed antenna model exhibits resonances in 1.51-3.39 GHz (2:1 VSWR BW 76.6%) and 5.31-6.32 GHz (2:1 VSWR BW 17.3%) bands with 2.5-5 dBi gain. Very good agreement… Show more

“…The sharp and complex structures of the fractal antenna yield multiple discontinuities in the perimeter of the geometry. 1 This in turn improves the bandwidth and enhances the radiation properties of the antenna. Extended electrical length with compact volume is evident from the curves generated as a result of space-filling property of a fractal integrated antenna.…”

“…In addition to short-range technologies concerning Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN), Global Positioning Systems (GPS), Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), as well as applications related to aviation and space technology. [1][2][3][4][5][6][7] The integration of fractal geometry in patch antenna results in the development of quality radiation characteristics of an antenna. Self-similar shapes are the unit blocks of fractal geometry.…”

“…The double U-slots and bridge elements played an important role in the performance of the presented design. A sectoral Sierpinski Gasket fractal monopole antenna was presented in [9] for GPS, cellular, Bluetooth, and WLAN bands. The presented antenna design was able to provide dual-wideband response for desired bands.…”
