“…The concept of skin grafting in otologic surgery, as noted by Morris et al 1 , was first introduced by Thiersch in the 1800s and was subsequently advocated by Siebenmann to promote healing in open‐cavity mastoidectomy. Since the 1950s, the technique has received sporadic attention in the literature, usually in the setting of acquired canal stenosis repair 2‐4 . The technique used by the author (taught by Michael M. Paparella, MD) is presented, along with illustrative cases and caveats for successful grafting.…”
