Pertumbuhan dan Produktivitas Ulat Sutera
ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan mengamati pertumbuhan dan produktivitas ulat sutera Bombyx mori yang diberi pakan buatan dengan formula pakan ayam broiler. Penelitian menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan tujuh kombinasi pakan dan 20 ulangan. Sebagai perlakukan adalah: A, pakan 100% tepung daun murbei (DM); B, 100% DM + 0,5% betasitosterol; C, 75% DM+25% pakan broiler (PB)+ 0,5% betasitosterol; D, 50% DM + 50% PB + 0.5% betasitosterol; E, 25% DM + 75% PB + 0,5% betasitosterol; F, 100% PB + 0,5% betasitosterol; dan G, 100% PB. Satu unit percobaan terdiri dari satu ekor larva yang dipelihara secara individual. Parameter yang diamati adalah: konsumsi bahan kering pakan, kecernaan pakan, bobot badan akhir instar, pertambahan bobot badan, ECI (efficiency conversion of ingested feed), ECD (efficiency conversion of digested feed) periode istar V, bobot pupa, bobot kokon dan persentase kulit kokon. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa larva yang diberi pakan E, 25% DM + 75% PB + 0,5% betasitosterol, konsumsi pakannya terbanyak, menghasilkan bobot badan akhir instar V, bobot pupa, bobot kokon, dan persentase kulit kokon tertinggi.Kata kunci: ulat sutera, Bombyx mori, pakan broiler, pertumbuhan, kokon
ABSTRACTThis research was aimed to study the growth and productivity of silkworm B. mori fed broiler diet. This research used completely randomized design experiment with seven treatments (combination mulberry leaves powder, chicken feed dietand betasitosterol). Start from 5 th instar, 140 larvae were weighted then randomly divided into 7 groups of feed treatments. Larvae were reared individually so there were 20 repetitions in each treatment. The treatment were: A, 100% mulberry leaves (ML); B, 100% ML + 0.5 % beta sitosterol; C, 75% ML+ 25% broiler diet (BD) + 0.5% betasitosterol; D, 50% ML + 50% BD + 0.5% beta sitosterol; E, 25% ML + 75% BD + 0.5 % betasitosterol; F 100% BD + 0,5 % betasitosterol and G, 100% BD. The feed consumption/larvae, body weigh gain, fifth larvae instar period, ECI (efficiency con version of ingested feed), ECD (efficiency conversion of digested feed), pupae weight, cocoon weight and percentage of cocoon husk were measured. The result showed that formula E (25% ML + 75% BD + betasitosterol) gave the highest result in feed consumption (most palatable), body weight gain, cocoon weight and percentage of cocoon husk.
