Seasonality in nutrient content of banana diagnostic leaf

Abstract: Banana farming has an important position in Brazilian agricultural production. This position was earned due to the use of cultivation technologies and adequate fertilization made through recommendations of evaluation of foliar analyzes. The objective of this study was to determine the seasonality of the nutritional status of the diagnostic leaf during the development of banana tree. The experiments took place in the city of Sete Barras / SP, with cultivars such as Grande naine and Prata, on summer and winter. … Show more

“…The results of the analysis of the leaf tissue and the yields recorded in a database belonging to the experimental area were used. Leaf tissue sampling was performed twice a year, every six months, and followed the Costa et al (2019). The mid-portion of the third leaf lamina, counting from the apex, was collected when the inflorescence had two or three open clusters of male flowers.…”

“…The leaf tissues were sampled according to recommendations of Rodrigues et al (2010) and Costa et al (2019). The sampling consisted of collecting the central part of the blade of the third leaf from the apex of plants at inflorescence stage, presenting two to three opened male bunches.…”

“…requires substantial amounts of nutrients, mainly potassium (K) and nitrogen (N), for adequate development (DEUS et al, 2020;NYOMBI, 2020). These nutrients are directly related to plant development, and fruit production and quality, with the amount extracted differing as a function of cultivar, phenological status and plant age (COSTA et al, 2019;OLIVEIRA et al, 2022).…”
