“…Although the two cruises provide a limited representation of the dynamics of the water property distribution, observation of sampling time showed the notable thing found from a contour perspective, where the different gradients of water mass arise in northern MS during August. Isa et al (2020a) reported the occurrence of a thermal front during SWM based on the calculation of the horizontal sea surface temperature gradient between two transects in AS and MS. In the future, more research in MS should be done to integrate the physical properties with biological activities, especially those related to jellyfish bloom and HABs.…”

“…MS is connected with the South China Sea (SCS) and the Java Sea in the south and the Andaman Sea (AS) in the north. Like other countries in Southeast Asia, MS is influenced by the monsoonal system: the NE monsoon (NEM; November-February) and the SW monsoon (SWM; June-August; Isa et al, 2020a;Luu, Tkalich, and Tay, 2015;Tkalich et al, 2012). During NEM, the northern hemisphere and southern hemisphere experience winter and summer, respectively, and vice versa during SWM.…”
