Searching forCP-even Higgs bosons of the minimal supersymmetric model at hadron supercolliders

Abstract: The branching ratios and supercollider cross sections of the two CP-even Higgs scalars h 0 and HO of the minimal supersymmetric model (MSSM) are computed (including the effects of leading log radiative corrections). The "gold-plated" Higgs-boson decay into ZZ-1-1-1' 1 -is analyzed at the CERN Large Hadron Collider and Superconducting Super Collider, and the regions of MSSM Higgs sector parameter space where the h 0 or H O can be detected in this mode are delineated. The prospects for Higgsboson detection as a … Show more

“…4 × 10 −4 from the CLEO collaboration [3] already implies severe constraints [4] on the charged Higgs boson mass m H ± [2] for given top quark mass m t and model parameter tan β = v 2 /v 1 , the ratio of the two vacuum expectation values appearing in the MSSM. In the present Letter we point out that these constraints almost close the interesting decay channel t → bH + (the basis of all viable H ± studies at hadron colliders [5][6][7][8][9]) and exclude most of the (m A , tan β)…”

“…They also partially exclude a parameter region believed to be inaccessible to combined LEPI, LEP II and SSC/LHC searches [6][7][8][9]. These important constraints will become even more far-reaching when more precise theoretical calculations are made and a more accurate determination of B(b → sγ) becomes possible, for example at future B-factories.…”

“…Previous work on this subject has appeared in Ref. 's [7] and [8] where the effective potential and the renormalization group methods are used. We perform a Feynman diagram calculation utilizing the on-mass-shell renormalization scheme, and present explicit analytic results.…”

“…While there is a single Higgs boson in the Standard Model (SM), the minimal supersymmetric extension (MSSM) has five of them -three neutral (h, H, A) and two charged (H ± ). Phenomenological interest here has concentrated largely on the neutral sector [2,3,4,5].…”

Phenomenological interest here has concentrated largely on the neutral sector [2,3,4,5].As regards H ± , it is recognized that top decay would provide viable signals at hadron colliders if m H ± < m t [4,5,6,7,8,9]. On the other hand, the region m H ± > m t is favored by constraints from b → sγ data[10], if there are no light charginos [11]; this region has been considered problematical, since the principal signal H → tb would suffer from large QCD backgrounds at a hadron collider [7,12].…”
