Abstract:Aminomethanol (HOCH 2 NH 2) is a molecule of astrochemical interest as it is thought to be the precursor to the simplest amino acid, glycine. To date, no laboratory spectrum has been recorded because it is unstable under normal laboratory conditions. As a result, a millimeter spectrometer was developed to study the products of O(1 D) insertion into methylamine, with the goal of producing aminomethanol. Here we present the results of this study, including other observed reaction products and a preliminary assig… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
