Searches for dark matter signals in simplified models at future hadron colliders

Abstract: We study the prospect of dark matter (DM) searches in the monojet channel at future pp colliders with center-of-mass energies of 33, 50, and 100 TeV. We consider a class of simplified models in which a vector boson connecting DM particles to quarks is introduced. Comparing with studies in the effective field theory, the present framework gives more reasonable production rates and kinematics of the DM signatures. We estimate the sensitivities of future colliders with an integrated luminosity of 3 ab −1 to the D… Show more

“…This idea is at the base of the so-called "Simplified Models" [140][141][142][143][144][145][146][147][148][149][150][151][152][153][154] which are customarily adopted especially in the context of collider studies, see e.g., Refs. “…(26). However, this is also highly suppressed by the large scalar mass m H;A ≃ m D ≃ 3 TeV: for the benchmark value of ðλ 4 − λ 5 Þ ¼ 1 and the cut p T > 500 GeV on the primary jet [50][51][52][53][54], the total cross section for the process in Eq. (27) is only ≃7 × 10 −4 fb at a 100 TeV collider, and thus, it is very challenging to be tested at hadron colliders in the monojet channel.…”

“…By interacting with the SM Higgs, all the triplet components can be pair produced in the scalar portal. The cross sections for the singly and doubly charged scalars are too small when compared to the Drell-Yan processes; while the neutral components decays predominantly into neutrinos, they can, in principle, be limited by the monojet searches of DM at hadron colliders [50][51][52][53][54]. The doubly charged scalars could induce lepton flavor violating (LFV) processes at future lepton colliders, e.g.,…”

“…It is well-known that for scalar and vector interaction, direct detection experiments have stronger capability to detect heavy DM with masses larger than 10 GeV, while collider searches have better sensitivity for small DM [39][40][41][42]. This conclusion would change dramatically once the isospin-violating effects are taken into account.…”
