Search for topological defect dark matter with a global network of optical magnetometers

Samer Afach,
Ben C. Buchler,
Dmitry Budker
et al.

Abstract: Results are reported from the first full-scale search for transient signals from exotic fields of astrophysical origin using data from a newly constructed Earth-scale detector: the Global Network of Optical Magnetometers for Exotic physics searches (GNOME). Data collected by the GNOME consist of correlated measurements from optical atomic magnetometers located in laboratories all over the world. GNOME data are searched for patterns of signals propagating through the network consistent with exotic fields compos… Show more

“…We also develop a system of dual simultaneously working comagnetometers in this work, by adding a closedloop Rb isotope comagnetometer. This extended system has potential applications in precision measurements, such as the advanced GNOME experiment [38][39][40][41], where we can simultaneously and independently measure the anomalous coupling of the axion-like particles with proton spin and neutron spin.…”

“…tional support for it [66]. By treating the Hubble expansion of space as an independent curvature in general relativity, the equations of GR can accommodate a scenario in which the observations of SNe 1a and BAO may be described without requiring additional parameters for DM or accelerating dark energy.…”

“…That is nothing but the gradient of domain wall configuration. The corresponding magnetic field is now being searched for in GNOME experiment [68][69][70]. The experimental advantage of introducing another light axion is that the force range, 1/m φ , can be much longer than the wallsize 1/m a with m φ m a .…”
