Possibilities to search for 2β decay of α/β unstable nuclei, many of which have higher energy release than "conventional" (β stable) 2β candidates, are discussed. First experimental halflife limits on 2β decay of radioactive nuclides from U and Th families (trace contaminants of the CaWO 4 , CdWO 4 and Gd 2 SiO 5 scintillators) were established by reanalyzing the data of low-background measurements in the Solotvina Underground Laboratory with these detectors (1734 h with CaWO 4 , 13316 h with CdWO 4 , and 13949 h with Gd 2 SiO 5 crystals).
