SEARCH FOR THE CHIRAL NUCLEI IN A∼80 MASS REGION

Abstract: Excited states of 80 Br have been investigated via the 76 Ge(11 B, α3n) re-October 9, 2012 23:7 WSPC-Proceedings Trim Size: 9in x 6in Wang-Shouyu 240 action and a new ∆I = 1 band has been identified which resides ∼ 400 keV above the yrast band. Based on the experimental results, a chiral character of the two bands within the πg 9/2 ⊗ νg 9/2 configuration is proposed, which provides the first evidence for chirality in the A ∼ 80 mass region.
