Search for heavy isosinglet neutrinos in e+e− annihilation at GeV

Abstract: A search for heavy neutrinos that are isosinglets under the standard SU(2)L gauge group is made at center-of-mass energies 130 -'s -189 GeV with the L3 detector at LEP. Such heavy neutrinos are expected in many extensions of the Standard Model. The search is performed for the first generation heavy singlet neutrino, Ne, through the decay modeNe ™ e + W. We set upper limits on the mixing parameter between the heavy and light neutrino for the heavy neutrino mass range from 80 GeV to 185 GeV.

“…Heavy neutrinos with masses of the order of electroweak scale can be directly produced on-shell at colliders. Such a direct search was performed in e e + − annihilation at LEP [221,222], assuming a single heavy neutrino production via its mixing with active neutrinos: e e N L ν → ℓ + − , followed by its decay via NC or CC interaction to the SM W, Z or Higgs (H) boson:…”

“…The most stringent constraint on mixing with muon from LEP2 experiments requires |V µN | 2 10 −4 − 10 −5 for 5 GeV < m N < 80 GeV [54][55][56]. For neutrinos heavier than Z bosons, there are also plenty of researches based on electron colliders [57][58][59][60][61][62][63][64][65]. However, due to the limitation of the center-of-mass (c.m.)…”
