Seaport efficiency and productivity based on Data Envelopment Analysis and Malmquist Productivity Index

Abstract: Seaport efficiency and productivity are the critical factors for handling of goods in the international supply chains and plays an important role in trade exchange with other countries. It is important to evaluate efficiency and productivity of seaports to reflect their status and reveal their position in competitive environment. The main purpose of this article is to use Data Envelopment Analysis and Malmquist Productivity Index to measure the technical efficiency and total factor productivity of container po… Show more

“…Li et al (2015) evaluated the relative efficiency to determine the current level of efficiency for the major 16 ports in Asia using DEA technique by applying CCR and BCC models. Baran and Górecka (2015) used DEA to assess the Overall Technical Efficiency, Pure Technical Efficiency and Scale Efficiency of container ports based on CCR and BCC models. Nguyen et al (2015) used both DEA and SFA to underlie the factors of the low levels of efficiency.…”

“…Only one peer-reviewed article focused on an African nation. Baran & Gorecka (2015) used the Malmquist DEA to evaluate the seaport efficiency and productivity of the 18th world leading container ports. The paper used the Malmquist productivity to determine and analyze the productivity change and its decomposition of four container terminals during 1996-2012.…”
