Significant strides have been made in the management of urethral strictures, but for complicated strictures the choice is limited (Turner-Warwick, 1969;Blandy and Singh, 1972;Sharma, 1979).
0 -Reports on the management of complicated urethral strictures are scanty (Dourmashkin, 1952;Singh and Blandy, 1976;Blandy, 1980). Infected tissue in and around the urethra discourages the use 4 40of a free skin graft (Devine el al., 1963; Brannan et t al., 1976) and two-stage urethroplasty seems to E 3 0offer a more appropriate answer (Johanson, 1953; w Blandyetal., 1968; Turner-Warwick, 1969; Blandy 2 2 0and Singh, 1972).Summary-Of 250 men with urethral strictures seen over a period of 40 months 50 had complications such as periurethral abscesses, inflammatory masses, urethral fistulas, sinuses and urinary extravasation.
