“…Contents of the plates were then incubated in humidified atmosphere at 318 (for L. aethiopica) or at 378 (for L. donovani) under 5% CO 2 for 72 h. After 68 h of incubation, 10 ml of fluorochrome resazurin (Sigma Chemical Co., St. Louis, USA) soln. (12.5 mg dissolved in 100 ml PBS, pH 7.2) was added into each well, and the fluorescence intensity was measured after a total incubation time of 72 h using Victor 3 Multilabel Counter (Perkin-Elmer), at an excitation wavelength of 530 nm and emission wavelength of 590 nm. Assays with standard antileishmanial drugs and medium with 1% DMSO were also performed to have reference values.…”

“…As a result of studies carried out with Echinops from the Asteraceae family up to the present, it has been proven that taxa of the Echinops species are effective against migraine, intestinal worms, hemorrhoid, piles, diarrhea, heartache as well as various infections and it has been concluded that they have a wide usage area as an alternative treatment method [7]. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the antimicrobial and antioxidant activity of E. emiliae.…”
