SPOCK1 promotes the invasion and metastasis of gastric cancer through Slug‐induced epithelial‐mesenchymal transition

Abstract: Metastasis is a crucial impediment to the successful treatment for gastric cancer. SPOCK1 has been demonstrated to facilitate cancer metastasis in certain types of cancers; however, the role of SPOCK1 in the invasion and metastasis of gastric cancer remains elusive. SPOCK1 and epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT)‐related biomarkers were detected by immunohistochemistry and Western blot in gastric cancer specimens. Other methods including stably transfected against SPOCK1 into gastric cancer cells, Western b… Show more

“…reported that SPOCK1 was involved in slug-induced EMT and promoted cell invasion and metastasis, which high expression was also a prognostic factor for poor survival in gastric cancer (10). Results in this study documented that SPOCK1 was highly expressed in BC cells and clinical specimens relative to normal ones, which were paralleled with Oncomine, HPA and Ualcan databases.…”

“…CLIP2 involves the TNF-α singling pathway 25 to play an important role in gastric tumorigenesis 26 . SPOCK1, a representative target www.nature.com/scientificreports www.nature.com/scientificreports/ gene of miR-375, has been demonstrated to facilitate metastasis in certain types of cancer and to promote GC invasion and metastasis through a Slug-dependent mechanism 27 . PENK and ADAMTS16 are representative DEGs of miR-1260.…”

“…EMT is tightly regulated by TFs. Apart from the prominent TFs, such as Slug [ 17 ], Snail [ 18 ], Twist1/2 [ 19 , 20 ], FOXQ1 [ 21 ] and ZEB1/2 [ 22 25 ] in GC, there are emerging novel TFs that have also been found to regulate EMT. For example, runt-related TF 3 (RUNX3), which has a role in suppressing EMT through the TGF-β-activated SMAD pathway, has been observed to be frequently downregulated [ 26 , 27 ].…”
