SPEEK‐Tin dioxide proton conducting membranes: Effect of modifying agent of tin dioxide particles surface

Abstract: Proton‐conducting membranes based on sulphonated poly (ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) polymer matrix and tin dioxide have been synthesized. Their local structure has been studied by FTIR and XRD whereas their structural features at nanometer scale has been investigated by Small‐Angle X‐ray Scattering (SAXS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). SAXS and TEM results show that incorporation of the inorganic particles in SPEEK promotes dispersion of the hydrophilic sulfonic groups in the polymer matrix, inhibi… Show more

“…A close introspection of the spectra reveals a minute hump with a certain amount of noise signal instead of a broad peak for O-H stretching, indicating the effective thermal crosslinking of membrane. In addition to these peaks, the characteristic absorption peaks of the Zr-O stretching bond [ 52 ] at 440 and 460 cm −1 were observed in the spectra of PVA-SiO 2 -Zr, and O-Sn-O and Sn-O stretching bands at 640 and 550 cm −1 , respectively, were present for PVA-SiO 2 -Sn [ 53 ].…”

“…In contrast, the ternary composite membrane had reduced layer spacing compared to GO, and the diffraction peak was shifted toward higher diffraction angles. A broad and slow diffraction peak at 2θ = 22.06° was caused to the π–π stacking of benzene rings in the polymer backbone 32 . Therefore, the prepared composite membranes were essentially amorphous.…”

“…Sulfonic acid groups made the decomposition temperature difference between the PS core and the PANI shell larger. Other polymers, such as glucose, [122] phenolic formaldehyde (PF) resins, [123] and polyacrylonitrile (PAN), [124] are also coated on PS core to prepare HCSs. Notably, the porous carbon derived from metal-organic framework (MOF) has been extensively studied in recent years.…”
