RNA m6Amethylation in cancer

Abstract: N 6 -methyladenosine (m 6 A) is one of the most abundant internal modifications in eukaryotic messenger RNAs (mRNAs) and non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs). It is a reversible and dynamic RNA modification that has been observed in both internal coding segments and untranslated regions. Studies indicate that m 6 A modifications play important roles in translation, RNA splicing, export, degradation and ncRNA processing control. In this review, we focus on the profiles and biological functions of RNA m 6 A methylation on b… Show more

“…65 RNA methylation modifications, mainly including N6adenylation (m6A), N1-adenylate methylation (m1A) and 5-methylcytosine (m5C), are widely existed and involved in the biological processes of cancers. 66,67 m6A methylation modifications are removed by the demethylases (Erasers), including α-ketoglutarate-dependent dioxygenase homologue 5 (ALKBH5), ALKBH3, fat mass and obesity-associated protein (FTO) and other homologies. m6A-binding proteins called 'Readers' recognise these RNAs and perform their functions.…”

“…Sample information on GSE51981 and GSE7305 is detailed in Table 1. Initially, a list of 24 m6A methylation-related genes were assembled from the available published literature and reviews [24][25][26][27][28][29]. Then, the expression levels of these 24 genes were systematically compared in the eutopic endometrium of women with and without EM using the Wilcoxon test in R. A pvalue of < 0.05 was set as the cutoff for differentially expressed genes (DEGs).…”
