Resina Draconis as a topical treatment for pressure ulcers: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

Abstract: In recent years, a number of studies have reported on Resina Draconis (RD) as a topical treatment for pressure ulcers. To evaluate these studies, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to examine the efficacy of RD for pressure ulcers. We searched eight electronic databases to identify randomized controlled trials in which RD treatment was compared with other topical treatment of pressure ulcers from 1980 to 2014. Selection of studies, study appraisal, data extraction and analysis were undert… Show more

“…Small molecules can be used to promote HFSC activation, which will be useful for regenerative medicine ( 10 ). Resina draconis , a traditional Chinese herbal medicine, has a long history of clinical efficacy against wounds, ulcers and other hard-to-heal injuries ( 11 ). Our previous study indicated that loureirin A, the main active flavonoid ingredient of Resina draconis , can promote HFSC differentiation by activating the protein Wnt-9b (Wnt)/β-catenin signaling pathway and inducing HFSC-seeded tissue-engineered skin to repair skin wounds ( 12 ).…”

“…Over the years, Chinese medicine has accumulated a wealth of experience in the treatment of CD, a large number of literature reports and modern research have confirmed that Chinese medicine in the treatment of CD has a significant effect [47][48][49]. LB as a Chinese herb has been commonly used for the treatment of coronary heart disease, angina, and acute myocardial infarction, and the ethyl acetate of LB can promote inflammatory response induced with LPS through inhibiting ROS production in vascular smooth muscle cells and macrophages [19][20][21][22]. However, the role of LB on CD and the underlying mechanisms remain unknown.…”

“…RD, obtained from Dracaena cochinchinensis (Lour.) S. C. Chen (Liliaceae), is a Chinese herb with the positive activities of promoting blood circulation for removing blood stasis, regenerating tissue to heal wound, relieving pain and eliminating swelling, which has been commonly used for the treatment of coronary heart disease, angina, and acute myocardial infarction [19,20]. Additionally, the ethyl acetate of RD can promote inflammatory response induced by LPS through inhibiting ROS production in vascular smooth muscle cells and macrophages [21].…”
