PPARγ activation inhibits cerebral arteriogenesis in the hypoperfused rat brain

Abstract: Pharmacologic PPARγ stimulation inhibits pro-arteriogenic EC activation, monocyte function, SMC proliferation and thus adaptive as well as G-CSF-induced cerebral arteriogenesis. Further studies should evaluate whether this effect may underlie the CV risk associated with thiazolidinedione use in patients.

“…STAT3 was assessed in a sample of rat’s brain homogenate [ 42 ] and CSF [ 66 ] according to the instructions provided by manufacturers of (E-EL-0118) ELISA assay Kits from Elabscience Biotechnology Inc, Wuhan, China. The level of PPAR-gamma was also quantified in brain homogenate [ 42 ] and CSF [ 67 ] using an (E-EL-R0724) ELISA kit from Elabscience Biotechnology Inc, Wuhan, China. The values expressed nM/µg protein in brain homogenate and ng/mL in CSF.…”

“…Counterpulsation treatment not only stimulates therapeutic arteriogenesis via augmentation of fluid shear stress (Buschmann et al 2009(Buschmann et al , 2016, but also stabilizes telomeres of circulating PBMCs.
