Low‐cost conductive films based on graphite and cellulose acetate as promising electroanalytical platforms

Abstract: Conducting films were produced by incorporating 35, 50, and 60 wt.%. of graphite in cellulose acetate. The graphite contents showed to be of pivotal importance to the properties of the materials, mainly on the electrochemical performance. Thermal analyses indicated the graphite hinders the crystallization process of cellulose acetate and increases the hydrophobicity of the films. Scanning electron microscopy provided evidence of laminated graphite structures well‐dispersed in the polymeric matrix and exhibited… Show more

“…12 They have been applied to various functional composites with special properties. [13][14][15][16][17][18][19][20] Zhou et al 16 prepared polyamide 6/graphite composites with more than 20 W m À1 K À1 in thermal conductivity with 60 wt% graphite. The abrupt changes appeared in thermal conductivity and dynamic rheological behaviors at 15 vol% graphite.…”

“…5,6 The portable devices versatility has attracted great interest, but implies the use of advanced materials capable of promoting the target analyte Silvestre Bongiovanni Abel and María V. Martinez contributed equally to this work enrichment and/or separation to quantify by electroanalytical methods. 7,8 Therefore, modular sensor platforms emerge as a fashion approach that allows the use of advanced materials to promote the evolution of portable electrochemical sensors. Several investigations demonstrate that the performance of electrochemical measurements is strongly influenced by the material composition and nanostructure of the working electrode.…”

“…Several investigations demonstrate that the performance of electrochemical measurements is strongly influenced by the material composition and nanostructure of the working electrode. 3,7 Carbon-based electrodes have been widely used in electrochemistry because of their chemical inertness, wide potential window, and suitability for different types of analysis, among others benefits. 9 In this sense, 1D carbon materials are a promising candidate to be used as electrode material.…”
