Abstract

This chapter reviews literature that is relevant to information technology ( IT ) governance and its research streams. The first part introduces varying definitions of IT governance and the second part describes the definitions of, and research on IT governance mechanisms. The third part of this literature review is a summary of research trends of IT governance. It is intended to familiarize the reader with the basic knowledge about IT governance, and to call for theoretical contributions to this research field.
